Chess Club Problem Solvers!

Thank you so much for your contribution to our project. At the school, we now have a large and enthusiastic chess club up and running. We practice twice a month after school, and have already had three meetings. The students express an interest in these meetings and will often ask when the next meeting is, as though they cannot wait for them to occur.

The chess sets are vital to our functioning as a club. The sets we use are especially helpful as we have chess players of varying levels, with some students having tournament experience and others just learning how to play. Some of the sets that we have are therefore teaching sets that are labeled with piece positions and movements, which are especially useful for students just learning.

We are now settled into our practice schedule and are setting up other fundraising opportunities so that we may try our skills at tournaments. Overall, the chess sets have allowed us to create a chess club, begin practice, and develop and improve our problem solving skills.”
