Funding Fun in Fifth Grade

Funded Aug 24, 2023

Thank you again for you kind and generous donations! I am writing to share about the major impact this project had on our 5th grade classroom community. Most of your donated funds went toward supplies that I hoped would make our classroom warm, welcoming, and ready for eager learners at the beginning of this school year. As we approach the midpoint of the year, I can confidently say that this project achieved its goal!

To give you a sense of the impact, imagine yourself stepping into our elementary classroom. Your book and cushion donations helped me build out my first-ever classroom library, which students love to work in and select books from. Your donations of a class clipboard set have allowed me to implementing choice-seating incentives for partner work around the classroom, which motivates students to engage in collaborative learning. Your donations of a class whiteboard set with individual markers and erasers has allowed me to restructure math time so it's more interactive for students, and they are able to get immediate feedback from me during instruction. This makes them excited for math class! Your donations of scissors, glue sticks, and other basic supplies have helped students "publish" their written work during our publishing parties. Finally, the other odds and ends that were donated helped me to build a bright, colorful, and happy classroom together with my students. Our class is place where students feel welcome and excited to come every day.

In short, thank you again for all of your help. I am personally very grateful for the impact of your donations on (what feels like) a successful school year so far, and one that I am enjoying every day with my students. Have a wonderful new year!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. McAuliffe
