Improved Flexibility and Range of Motion
Funded Oct 26, 2024I would like to take the time to thank you for your generous donation toward my Improved Flexibility and Range of Motion project. My students have enjoyed challenging themselves by using the yoga straps in their poses.
My students were not quite sure what to think about the straps when they first arrived. I assured them that once they learned how to use them, they would enjoy them. I introduced some of the uses for the straps in our first session after receiving them. After the initial introduction, my students have asked to use them during every session. They have used the straps to help themselves fold deeper in seated forward folds. They have also used the straps to lift their back leg higher in dancer pose. Another pose they have enjoyed using the straps for is parachute pose.
We have also been able to use the storage cart to hold our newly acquired yoga mats so they are not spilling out of the boxes they arrived in onto the floor. This has prevented the tripping hazard we had prior to the arrival of the cart.
Again, thank you for providing funds necessary to make this project a success.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Heskett

Funded Oct 12, 2024I would like to thank you for your generous contribution to my Mindfulness Through Movement project. We have received our new yoga mats and have enjoyed using them.
My students were super excited when our boxes arrived and were even more excited when they opened them to find the yoga mats. My students wanted to open each mat and put it use right away.
We have been able to use the mats at least once per week since their arrival. My students ask nearly every day if we are going to get out the mats and do yoga. The mats have increased student interest in working on their poses since they provide a non-slip surface on which to practice.
I plan to continue using the mats with my students as we move through the rest of this school year and in the years to come.
Again, I would like to thank you for your donation to my project.”

Funded Aug 15, 2023I would like to thank you for your generosity in supporting my students through my Cleaner Student Environment project. With your generous donation, I have been able to use the vacuum to provide a clean carpet space for my students to work and play on. The Refrigerator and microwave have been used to allow for my students to "cook" healthy snacks.
Many of my students have little opportunity to enjoy fresh food snacks. Most of the snacks they get are highly processed and prepackaged. By having the ability to keep fresh fruit and vegetables refrigerated in our classroom, I have been able to plan for and allow my students to experience healthier snacks. So far, the most enjoyed snack has been our Very Hungry Caterpillar Kabobs.
We learned about the butterfly life cycle by raising caterpillars through to adult butterflies. While waiting for our butterflies to emerge from their chrysalises, I was able to provide and keep cool the same fruits the caterpillar ate in the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. My students placed their fruit on a kabob in the same order of how the caterpillar ate through them in the story.”
