Little Hands Learning Through Play

Funded Sep 26, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation! My preschoolers are using the donated items during play, small group table activities, and one to one work time with a staff member. During play students are learning how to cooperate with each other while playing with the building toys. They are working on their sharing skills, problem solving skills, and using their imaginations together.

A group of my preschool girls were playing with the castle blocks together. They were independently creating how they wanted their castle to be, using a lot of expressive language, and adding people from other toy bins to their castle. They took pride in what they built. When my students were first introduced to the materials they were very excited and eager to start playing with the items. I let them use their imaginations to decide how they wanted to play with the items, and provided modeling as needed. At some point this year I would like to capture moments of the students creating by taking videos and sharing them with families. I would like to take that opportunity to show parents different strategies that are used in the classroom while incorporating the much appreciated donated materials.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Witz
