Kindness Kit & Sel Games
Funded Sep 26, 2023The donation of funds for my project has had a huge impact on the students in my school that I serve. The SEL kindness kits and games were utilized on a daily basis by students in my small groups as well as individual and classroom activities. Students learned about how to respond to emotional challenges through the Grab and Write prompts. They also used the Social-Emotional Match-Ups to learn how to problem solve in the various situations that they typically encounter in peer relationships. The SEL games
The Mold & Play Sensory Sand Set, and other sensory toys were a huge hit. I had a group of students that were experiencing a traumatic situation and were reluctant to talk; they were calmed and engaged by the sensory sand kits and were able to process their trauma while playing with the kit and talking through their situation. Additionally, in several small groups and classes, students wrote gratitude and kindness notes, utilizing the and the Scratch Art Mini Notes to convey to others their gratitude to help them grow in their positive mindset. They gave some of their scratch art cards that they created to underappreciated people in their lives such as their bus drivers, the lunch lady, their tutors as well as some of their peers.
The students loved playing the SEL games that taught about empathy and emotional regulation. The games helped teach them about their emotions and how to respond appropriately to various emotional situations. The students were also able to practice playing fairly and getting along with their peers.
The paperback library books were wonderful ways to teach students in the classroom about kindness & compassion through stories. These will continue to be utilized for years to come to help students learn how to display compassion and solve problems through relatable storytelling. I continually encourage to develop a growth mindset through stories as well as direct counseling lessons and plan to utilize the Growth Mindset bulletin board set as a visual reminder of these strategies.
Your support for my project has been greatly appreciated by both myself and the many students I serve. Thank you so much for your generous donation.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ginger
