  • Dreaming Up a World of Reading

    Thank you so much for your kind donations! Due to your help my classroom now has two whole class sets of reading books. As third graders, students are finally at an age where they can read on their own. However, many students at this age need guidance on finding new books and reading a classbook gives them the opportunity to explore new genres and feel safe reading something new.

    In my classroom, we encourage reading and celebrate those who are stepping out of their comfort zone and reading out loud. Due to many of my students being english learners volunteering to read and being excited despite the challenge is exciting. Having a class set of books means that everyone can follow along and chose to read.

    There is nothing that warms my heart then my students going to our school library and grabbing the book that we read together as a class. The excitement that they feel and something special. When given the opportunity these kids can do so much!”

  • Back to School & Back to Learning!

    My students have really enjoyed the snacks that were provided. Every Wednesday we have "Snack and Chat". During this we read our weekly reader then students get to eat a snack and talk about their reading. Being in a title 1 school many of my students are hungry and getting to eat a yummy snack makes their day!

    When the books arrived my students were so excited to see them. Especially the "Dog Man", "Judy Moody", and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series. I have many low readers and they love having the graphic novels in class. There are eight dog man books in my classroom library and there is always between 4-5 checked out at a time.”
