Funded Jul 3, 2024In our classroom, reading is an interactive and dynamic experience where students engage deeply with the text. New books help students develop crucial skills such as comprehension, inference, and critical thinking. We focus on lessons that encourage students to analyze character development, identify themes, and make text-to-self and text-to-world connections. Most of my kids need that reading comprehension lessons because most of them often read and don't understand what they are actually read.
Reading in our classroom often includes partner discussions, group activities, and independent reflections. They've begun asking thoughtful questions and leading group discussions, showing a newfound confidence in interpreting and connecting ideas across texts. It's moments like these that demonstrate how the right books can ignite a passion for learning!”
