Spanish and Art? Count Me In!
Funded Aug 17, 2023I really want to appreciate from the bottom of my heart your support for this cause. The material we got has been used for different projects. In our first weeks of classes my students personalized their new notebooks with affirmations and images that represented them. We used the clear adhesive to cover the notebooks for lasting results. My students were so excited to see how cool their notebooks looked.
With the craft felt I created some emojis to teach my little students about expressing our feelings. We all had so much fun acting out our emotions and using our emojis as we sang along to songs.
Among many art activities we do in our Spanish language lab , we also celebrated the rich and vibrant Latin-American holiday "Dia de los muertos," a special day to honor our ancestors. For this occasion we all worked in making "papel picado" to decorate our community altar. Once again the excitement in my students was heart warming for me to see how they all wanted to learn about my culture and to be part of this special celebration.
As the school year continues I will be using all the material that your generous heart shared with us to create more fun art projects to keep learning the beauty of my native language with my amazing and unique OAK students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Tricia
