Creating a Love for Reading and Math Through Games

Help me give my students games, puzzles, and books in order to help them learn and cooperate together through playing and reading. Children learn best through play and I have found that children love games and puzzles.

  • A Rich Learning Environment Full of Print and Music

    Funded Aug 26, 2024

Thank you so much for helping provide books and music charts for my students to read in the classroom. The students have loved learning new songs and break out into song often. We have loved reading all the books that were provided for my class. We read a book for a week and do a lot of comprehension and retell with each book. Most of my students have passed off all of their letters and sounds and I know it is because of all the books we read in class.

This past month we have studied all about Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, turkeys, and the balloons at the Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade. We wrote about November and our favorite things for the month, we did turkey crafts, wrote poems about turkeys, sang songs about Veterans, made our own balloon and had a balloon parade through the school. My students have said this was the best month of school ever.

My students have started reading on their own and love the variety of books they are able the pick from. You can never have too many books in a classroom to enhance the love for reading.

I am so grateful for your help in making my classroom a rich learning environment by donating to my donors choose. This truly has helped so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lawrence

  • Come Listen to a Good Book!

    Funded Aug 13, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation. I was able to provide many new books for my students to sit and listen to while at the reading center. Many kindergarteners do not know how to read, but want to have a book read to them. By getting books on CD along with a paper back book, the students are able to listen to each book and follow along. They love looking at the pictures while the story is being told to them.

Listening to a good reader read a book is an important step in becoming a good reader. You need to be able to hear expression, pronunciation, and flow from a good reader so you know what you should sound like while reading. I have several students who ask to listen to a story every day. We try to use our new books and CD a few times each week.

Thank you for your kindness and support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lawrence
