Art in Learning
Funded Oct 31, 2024I am sending you a heartfelt thank you for your generosity! Upon opening the boxes of art supplies, my students were ecstatic! Being kinesthetic learners, who learn through doing, seeing these supplies excited them as they knew they'd be able to be create and demonstrate their understanding beyond the typical worksheet.
When they learned that we would be using the primary paint colors and white card stock paper to create an art project mimics that of Piet Mondrian, they were so excited. This project directly connected to our math unit on measuring area. They truly enjoyed completing the project and like seeing them hanging on our walls each day. They also enjoyed using the origami paper to measure angles. This connected, again to a math unit.
With the scissors and construction paper, we plan to make Valentine's Day cards for a local retirement home. We also plan to continue using the paint and various paints for future projects. The plastic storage bins help to keep everything organizer and easily assessable.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I very much appreciate you.”

Books in Native Languages for ELLs
Funded Jan 30, 2024I cannot explain to you the impact that you've had on my 3 newcomers who speak very little English. Because of your generosity, they are able to read books, for pleasure, in their native languages. They now have a magnitude of books to choose from to enjoy. Thank you! I am a firm believer that their English acquisition will come easier with the continual reading and learning of their native language. These books have also played an impact on my non-English learners as my newcomers enjoy sharing these books with them which helps my non-English learners learn about their cultures. My Ukrainian student brought me one of the books, a Ukrainian folktale, and shared her culture with me as she read it to me. The joy in her smile was unforgettable.
Also, thank you for the flexible seating you provided to my students. Since I have a small classroom, the cushions and portable desks help them get comfortable in all working spaces in the classroom, especially during small group work time.
I truly appreciate your kindness! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Leigh Anne Bertucci

Funded Aug 21, 2023It is with a big heart that I thank you for your generous donation to my Donorschoose project. Not only have you helped provide my 27 learners with a cozy reading nook filled with books of interest and high quality, but you provided me the opportunity to build an organized and functional student friendly library. Everyday, students beg to work in the library and are constantly checking out books, including those you helped purchase, to take home and dive into.
Once my students learned that all of the Who Was and many of the What Is books were purchased, with your help, they were ecstatic not only because these books are of high interest to them and include people they are fans of, but also because many of them directly align to our curriculum and leaning. For instance in social studies we are learning about the formation of our government, so having the Who Was Ben Franklin and Who Was Thomas Jefferson books have been a great resource. Many student have checked out these books to read while learning about the government. What Is the Supreme Court is another popular book. Many of my students, including those who are on their English language journey, enjoy reading the graphic novels that were purchased as they find these books less overwhelming.
I will continue using these shelves and books for years to come, thanks to you! Not only will my current students benefit from these items, but so will future classes as well. I am eternally grateful for your kindness.”

Mrs. Leigh Anne Bertucci
