High School Biology Lab Equipment

We have reached the Biology chapter of genetics that explains how different traits are portrayed and passed down from parents to offspring. We have completed a couple of classroom activities that were not as kinesthetically engaging as an actual science experiment. The Carolina Science kit for the Monohybrid inheritance was the perfect lab for the students to visually and conceptually bring together what we have been discussing in class. The guided experiment provided everything I needed to lead the 3-day experiment.

The students have found a new connection between the material in class and the beauty of science with predicting what would happen and being surprised every step of the way. They loved working together to make sure their plants were well-watered and taken care of. The highlight was coming back to their plants every day to see the progress of the experiment and come together to discuss our misconceptions and what we can do better next time as a class.
