First Year Teacher Wants Latinx Books for Diverse Classroom
Funded Mar 30, 2024I wanted to thank you again for the kindness and generosity you have shown my classroom. When the first box of books arrived, the students were thrilled when they saw the stories featured Latinx change makers and protagonists. Then, more boxes of books continued to come. I opened each package in front of the class. There were so many students eager to read the books I had to have "book auctions" to decide who would get to read each book first.
The stories you provided transformed so many of my students into book enthusiasts. Students came in during lunch time to sit and read the Selena Quintanilla biographies with their friends. One student ran through the entire Paolo Santiago trilogy in less than a week. During free time, I found a group of students reading the poetry book about Ellen Ochoa out loud to one another.
You have provided more than just books. Your gift has sparked joy and enthusiasm for reading. Your generosity provided Latinx students with the ability to see themselves represented in literature and enabled students of different backgrounds to celebrate and learn about Latinx change makers and protagonists. Your books have opened doors for all students.
Thank you again. I am already so excited to introduce another class of students to these wonderful books. My new students, and every class afterward, will be supported and uplifted by your gift. Thank you.”
With gratitude,

Brand New Teacher Needs to Help First Class Get Organized!
Funded Aug 11, 2023A few months ago, your kindness and generosity helped fund a collection of seat pockets. Here is how you continue to impact our classroom every day.
The seat pockets have transformed the classroom. All students now have the opportunity to organize their supplies in a way that best works for them. The extra space helps prevent students from damaging or misplacing textbooks, workbooks, personal books, folders, and other items. The seat pockets also provide the students with the opportunity to practice responsibility and organization skills.
The students were so excited to receive the pockets. When I unveiled them at the front of the room, all of the students cheered. The excitement lives on every time a new student joins our classroom community and receives their brand-new pocket.
Thank you for making a difference in our classroom. Your kindness is present every day.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bunnell
