In the Making of Differentiated Work
Funded Dec 19, 2023I wish you guys could see how much our classroom and a lot of district 75 classrooms utilize velcro, laminating sheets and write and wipe pockets. These items are essential in modifying the work and classroom atmosphere of our students. I can only speak of myself and can share how the velcro provided through this projects allowed me to finish my students individual wall schedules. Additionally, the laminating sheets have been greatly utilized in the making of our sound wall, vocabulary wall and much more!
When my students have seen new things in the classroom, they are always surprised and interested in learning more about it. Because these materials are going to be used for months and years to come, laminating all the material and using velcro allows for the materials to last longer. Through this project and the donors support, my classroom has been allowed to make changes in our classroom to be able to contribute to my students learning.
As the last few months of the year roll in, I can give a big thank you for providing these materials early on in the year, as they continue to be used today!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jaime

Funded Nov 27, 2023Thank you for your contribution in the tools brought to my classroom through this project. With a shift in the curriculum and learning all about The Science of Reading, some of the tools such as the segmenting trays and magnetic wands have helped my students begin blending sounds and read with fluidity. In addition, the number block stamps and figures have encouraged my students to become interested in numbers and begin recognizing numbers through the new fun way of introducing numbers to them.
The new choice time items such as the sandwich sets, soup set and fresh salad set have my students eager to complete their work and indulge in one of these interactive options. Although introduced to each item one at a time students are always eager to interchange between the options I am able to give to them, thanks to this project.
Thank you for being an essential part in my classroom and providing new tools to help my students in their education.”

Funded Sep 20, 2023With your help, I was able to bring wonderful reinforcers to my classroom. My students were eager to see all the exciting things and snacks they could work for. They were excited to see the new coloring books, a second class favorite play-doh set and some of their favorite snacks.
Students choice boards have been updated with new visuals of all the new things they can and have been working for. The edible reinforcers have been very effective in the classroom as new students are working for Oreos, meanwhile other friends continue to work for fruit snacks and goldfish. The options for items they can work for has brought enjoyment and curiosity to all students learning as they can select from plenty of new reinforcers thanks to you! Lastly, sometimes students like to be surprised with the reward they are working for and only have a visual in a surprise pouch. One specific students is always eager to see what her reward is.
Thank you for making this possible in my classroom and bringing endless smiles to my students.”

Funded Aug 24, 2023Three months into the school year and we have begun using our supplies for the new school year provided by this project. There have been plenty of amazing things created thus far with the materials we received such as the laminating sheets, binding machine, colored paper and more. Some of the pictures shared, demonstrate some of the wonderful things I have been able to make for my students. I would like to share some of those exciting things: Vocabulary Communication boards, Thinking Maps, token boards, highlighting key terms in texts and more. I would like to extend my gratitude for contributing to this project and helping make this amazing resources for my students. They are greatly needed for the diverse population I work with and will continue working with.”

Funded Aug 2, 2023My first DonorsChoose project was bringing the flexible seating that was missing to provide for my entire class. These flexible seating chairs brought a seat to every student when in whole-group or during phonics instructions. Now that we have 8 seats, one for every student, each student has the opportunity to sit in a chair and not feel left out. While students have the opportunity to sit on the floor or a regular chair, most my students look forward to getting a flexible seating chair.
In addition, with limited space in the classroom one of our small-groups takes place in the carpet and these flexible seating chairs are used as one of the areas students engage with our vocabulary words and additional work. These chairs provide an alternative to the desk and chair and students are great with taking care of them as well as ensuring they put it back in their place or pairing it with one of our lap desks.
Thank you for making this project come to life and providing flexible seating for all my students.”

Funded Sep 6, 2023My class received the resources to fulfill our Osmo center. My students and I are so eager to see a designated area where they can engage in this educational and hands-on game. With an additional iPad, students no longer have to fight for who gets to use Osmo first and the option to use Osmo is available for not one but two students. It has been great seeing how students are sharing this area and handling our new resources with care.
In just this one month, students have enhanced their creativity by following instructions given through the app, increased their independence by retrieving and setting up the materials to use Osmo and learned how to request and share the materials with their peers. This was possible, thanks to your donation. Thank you for selecting this project and helping it come to life.”

Funded Sep 6, 2023As soon as students walked in and saw the new resources in our classroom, students were overjoyed to see how our classroom was coming together. With our classroom rug in the front of the classroom, to the bean bag in our reading corner, to the giant pillow in our calm down corner, it was all coming together. Students have already began benefiting from our giant pillow when needing a break and the calm blue color fits perfect in creating a safe and calm down area. Our students have participated in whole group and morning check-in by sitting down in our classroom carpet and taking turns coming to the smart board. Students have selected to sit down in our bean bag when reading a book or during small groups in the table.
Having alternatives for seating option, allow opportunities for my students to engage in lessons and instruction. Students have benefited tremendously from our calm down corner as they require breaks, that are sometimes requested or given based on student behavior and their needs. You will get to see how some students have already begun using these resources in the pictures provided. Thank you for your contribution to this project and being a part of my students educational journey.”
