A Few Things to Help Make Us Complete!
Funded Oct 30, 2023Students are loving having sketchbooks in the art room. We have learned the importance of having a sketchbook and have begun creating some amazing artwork inside of them. Students were given the opportunity to design the cover of their sketchbooks to make it truly one-of-a-kind!
Students are excited to create many drawings during the remainder of the school year, and be able to take their sketchbooks home to continue drawing into the summer.
Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom!”

Sketchbooks for little Alaskan Artists
Funded Aug 2, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation of sketchbooks for my classroom. As a first year teacher, and one of the only full time art teachers in the elementary school level, it means so much to me to have this support. My hope was to give all fifth grade students a sketchbook, in the hopes that I would have enough for my fourth graders also. I ended up having enough for not only all of them, but my third graders also.
As an artist myself who specializes in drawing, I cannot wait to teach my students how to draw. I grew up with a sketchbook in hand when I was older. I now have the opportunity to get sketchbooks in the hands of even younger students which is such a blessing.
When I told the students about the sketchbooks, I saw a lot of students who haven't shown a lot of excitement when it comes to art, really excited. That was such a joy to be able to see their faces light up. My fourth graders were so excited to find out that they would also be getting a sketchbook. When I explained to my third graders that my fourth and fifth graders were the ones getting sketchbooks, a lot of them seemed really disappointed. So, you can imagine their faces when I told them they would be getting one also. Several of my students said they have always wanted one.
I have seen such joy and passion in my students since giving them their sketchbooks. I allowed them all to design the front of their sketchbook to set it apart from the rest and to make it their own.
Next week, we will be going to the lobby area of our school and sketching the hallway, as a way to get students to see prospective and all the different lines and shapes that make up the inside of the school. They are really excited to get out of the art room, and get to sketch!
Thanks again for your generous donation.”
