Interactive Writing
Funded Aug 31, 2023The materials donated to my classroom have provided numerous opportunities for my students' to practice and improve their writing skills. In preparation for our state writing exam, my students have been working hard during our class' essay writing workshop activities. Most of our new materials are being used to learn how to effectively write argumentative essays.
My 8th grade English Language Arts students have used the yellow legal pad paper during the writing process to brainstorm and plan out their rough drafts. They used the highlighters to mark up their writing prompts and reading sources. In addition, they used their stickie notes to jot down evidence they'll be able to cite in their essays.
My students also regularly work in a journal for writing and reading activities. The glue sticks donated have helped them use their journal as an interactive notebook by glueing many resources into the journals. These resources are used regularly during many class activities.
Other materials, like our decorative paper, will be used when we work on our narrative and poetry writing lessons later this year. My students look forward to creating beautiful visuals of their writing!
They have really enjoyed and are truly grateful that they have had these resources provided for them.”
With gratitude,
