Choice of Chair!
Funded May 18, 2024We were able to fund this project and because of that students are far more engaged. By choosing where they want to sit they can choose to walk away from distractions. They can sit closer to the bored if they are unable to see well. This gives students the ability to problem solve through any issue! It also allows students to participate in small groups. We can break up into small groups for different activities allowing students to sit comfortably around the room.
We are so grateful for the flexible seating that has our students so fully engaged. We are loving our sit spots, and flex desks. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davis
This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Supporter and 2 other donors.Class is in Session
Funded Sep 26, 2023This second grade class's social and emotional development has been challenged by the prior years impacted by Covid-19. Covid-19 affected a critical point at their school normalization and peer interaction skills development. With your donation students have been able to clearly delineate which areas of the room are designated for various purposes. There is a safe space to encourage them to self-regulate their emotions. There is a comfortable reading nook, and an extension activity area.
They feel comfortable going to the carpet for reading because we have a carpet for them to enjoy. Students are highly motivated to self-regulate their behavior so that they are the first students chosen to go to the reading space so that they may choose a sit spot. In fact reading has become many of my second grader's new favorite subject which shows in their recent benchmark testing. No doubt, the welcoming environment in which they learn to read helps motivate them to continue to grow.
Students have also been motivated and excited to proudly display their work, because the bulletin board in the hallway is a point of pride for the class. This encourages them to finish their assignments and make sure that it is ready to be shown to their peers and any other adults in the building.
We are sincerely and deeply grateful for the donation that allowed us to be able to utilize our space well and encourage our students to grow!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davis
