Our students in the resource classroom are emerging readers and students that need a boost to get on grade level. The goal between 2nd and 3rd grade changes from learning to read, to reading to learn. It’s difficult to learn when you’re struggling and not able to keep up the same pace as your peers. In the resource classroom it is a challenge to close gaps in reading fluency, comprehension and understanding. Ultimately early intervention will allow students to make strides towards grade level reading competency. In an effort to effectively improve reading engagement along with district curriculum it is imperative to have accessible reading materials for students.
