Think Ink!
Funded Dec 3, 2024I tend to use my color printer daily because the students that I teach benefit from multisensory input! Words and numbers aren't significant and worth learning for my students until you add color and creativity to every aspect of their learning. Unless worksheets have realistic pictures or photographs my students can't relate and aren't interested but once you get that color printer working they're excited to work! I create colorful adaptive worksheets and readers using a printer, laminating sheets, and velcro. While I love my printer, I had no idea how expensive the ink cartidges are so thank you again for supporting my classroom needs!”

Funded Oct 18, 2024My students are big followers of visual schedules and like to watch the clock when they're working. Thanks to your generous donations we were able to buy and hang a large, bright colorful digital clock in our classroom. We look and talk about the time at least every hour and think of you when we do!
Also, teaching one-to-one correspondence is so much easier when we have desirable manipulatives! My kiddos do pretty well with two choices that way we all win and they get to have control over their choice to count apples on trees, flowers in the garden and/or airplanes in the sky and a couple more!
Thank you again for helping us understand there are numbers everywhere and how fun it is to learn math!”

Funded May 7, 2024Although the white, wall cabinet wasn't simple to put together, it serves a wonderful purpose! In trying to teach the kiddos independence now they can walk to the sink, grab their colored cup, and help themselves to water without washing away any extra items that used to be on the countertop.
Also, the electronic shelf holding the student's ipads is sturdy and small. It doesn't take up much room and the students can still find their color-coordinated tape to access their iPads and begin getting to work independently.
Thank you again for helping me and my students be better organized and self-sufficient!”

Funded Jan 25, 2024Every two weeks I try to create a new adapted book with the Sight Words and Word family my class is focusing on and I held my breath when it came to using my old printer.
It has been so nice to create several copies of Adapted books for my students and be able to hit print and the books print immediately and with vibrant colors. I'm not sure how old the printer was that was grandfathered for my classroom but not that I have a new printer, I am so much more efficient! So- Thank you!!
Also, my kids are loving the new puzzles! They have proven to help my students develop fine motor skills and practice matching colors successfully!”

Calming Space
Funded Nov 27, 2023Thank you for your donations allowing me to purchase a calming cube and soft mat for my students. We run a fun classroom filled with singing, dancing, exercising, and learning. After my students work they can make different choices based on what they enjoy. However, now and then students may come to class tired, whiny, grumpy, or simply not ready to finish their tasks. That's okay! The students are taught to request a "Break" ideally before acting out, a place where they're not in trouble but have the choice to go to a Sensory Corner or Calming Cube where they can relax and prepare their body and brain to work.
The Camling Cube that was purchased with your donations gives students a safe, comfortable, sterile environment away from distractions. Once the students take some time to rest their minds and body, they know the expectation is to finish whatever work they have missed. It's the perfect little space for a break!”

Kohala's "Special" Keiki Classroom
Funded Sep 6, 2023I wanted to reach out and say thank you to all of those who helped me fund my project! With our lakeshore Flex-Space Washable Comfy Floor Seat the students who require extra support while sitting on the floor can join us singing, chanting, stretching and learning during Group Time. Of course, these chairs are in high demand because they are super colorful and comfortable! So, when they're available the other students can earn their own time using them. They have learned to prioritize the seats for their friends who need them and also to be patient, work hard, and earn their time on these special chairs.
Speaking of time! That is when our cool Giant Classroom Timer comes in! This large, bright red timer is easy to see close and far. I keep it magnetized to a whiteboard in a central location and use it most frequently just before transitioning. I announce the number of minutes I'm setting and adults and students are ready to transition smoothly when the alarm goes off!
Lastly, the large Sand and Water Activity Tubs completed our outside activity area. Daily, we go out to water our sunflowers and greenbeans, dig in the dirt and play in the water!
Again, thank you so much for helping and being part of our classroom!”
