Love for Keiki
Funded Jan 8, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity. My students and I have had a very difficult year but it's been made more manageable and fun and comfortable due to your kindness. We lost most of our homes and community and August, so for a lot of my students, school has been the most normal place this year.
A lot of the families are food insecure and so it meant a great deal to them to have a place where they could always get a snack.
We played a lot of games, they received prizes in math class for growth/success, and we did a lot of creative projects. The students are so grateful and so am I. We've discussed the importance of passing along the generosity when we're able to in the future. Mahalo.”

Comforting Our School
Funded Nov 17, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity. The students have been LOVING the snacks and especially the yoga mats. I'm so excited that my middle schoolers are having an open mind and trying new things that help their bodies process the trauma of the Lahaina fire, like yoga. We've been breathing through triggers and stretching out. It's been so awesome to see them learn coping strategies with me. A lot of my students are food insecure, so it makes a world of difference for them to know that when they come to my room, they're not only learning math, but get fed and get to do fun games and make cool art projects with these gifted supplies. We are all so grateful and hope to return the generosity to others in need in the future. Thank you for helping our semester feel comfortable and fun after so much loss. We really appreciate you so much.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Hawai'i State Department of Education.Lahaina Keiki Need Love
Funded Oct 8, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity. My students have shown incredible resilience throughout this year with losing their homes and town to the Lahaina fire. We've learned coping strategies together and a lot of that was possible due to the items we received. We've played board games to bond, we've created some beautiful art projects as a way for students to express themselves and their gratitude for loved ones. The students have really appreciated having items that offer such comfort so our classroom can be a place that feels like home when homes have been lost. They love getting to have snacks as a lot of them are food insecure. I love knowing that when my students come to my room they will be fed, have fun, and work together to get through the difficulties life can throw.
The students were so excited about receiving so many incredible gifts, their eyes lighting up with each package. We also discussing the importance of passing along loving kindness, that when they're able to someday in the future, to try to pass along the generosity we've been given to someone else in need. We're going to continue to use these supplies to have as much fun and creativity this year as possible. They're learning new skills like sewing, too! We're so incredibly grateful. Thank you for making our semester shine!”
