Promising Percussionists: Building a More Accessible Ensemble
Funded Aug 26, 2024Your donation has made it possible for my students to engage in an ensemble experience that otherwise would have been inaccessible to them. Making music together as a group is a key component of elementary and middle school music. It builds community, teamwork skills, discipline and pride in putting forth a hard-worked-on performance. Because of your donations, my students were able to have this opportunity. It was amazing to see so many different students that I didn't even expect, engaged like they had never been before in music class.
To many, music class is an extra that is tossed to the side, but having this experience has aided in changing that narrative in many of my students minds. I am positive that I will keep this percussion unit in my curriculum for many years to come. It was certainly a success. Our next steps will be taking our learned pieces and putting them in a concert!
Thank you so much for all that you have done and I look forward to continuing to build the program here at the Bartlett School.”

Music Manipulatives for Elementary Music Class!
Funded Jan 16, 2024The impact of your donation has been immeasurable. It has brought a lot of joy to my classroom and will certainly last in students memories. This is definitely true of the stretchy band, which we have used for many folk dances and movement games/songs at this point. These have been the favorite activity of many of my younger elementary students since beginning using this manipulative. I had my last day with my second graders recently and they were asked to draw their "favorite memory from music class." Many students drew a picture of the stretchy band and a song or dance we had learned with it.
Additionally, the new piano benches have been it possible to teach group piano to my upper elementary and middle school students using proper seating. Before, I did not have enough chairs or stools for seating in our "hallway piano lab." These benches have made the difference in having enough places to sit.
Your donations are always amazing and will make a lasting mark in the music education of my students. You can't be thanked enough.”

Funded Aug 15, 2023Once again, I want to thank you for your donations to my classroom! What you were able to give has made a huge difference in the ability for my students to be able to learn piano (in addition to my last project). With the money that was donated, we were also able to get 2 more benches. This has, in effect, made it possible to expand our little mini piano lab in our hallway that middle school students have been able to make use of. There is no space in our room for keyboards to be rested on, thus without stands and benches, we would have been unable to do piano at all. In addition, these stands and benches make it possible for middle schoolers to get the full piano experience instead of making do with something makeshift.
Additionally, with the money that was given, we purchased a plethora of music related books. This took our collection of music books from being very small, to almost being like a small library. We have been able to include these books in our elementary curriculum in particular several times this year. The students really enjoy them!
You've made a world of difference. I don't know how we would have gotten through this year without your generosity. Thank you so SO much!”

Funded Jul 31, 2023Once again, I want to thank you for your donations to my classroom! What you were able to give has made a huge difference in the ability for my students to be able to learn piano and guitar. With the money that was donated, we were able to get 6 piano stands when we started with none. We were also able to get 6 benches. This has, in effect, made it possible to make a little mini piano lab in our hallway that middle school students have been able to make use of. There is no space in our room for keyboards to be rested on, thus without these stands and benches, we would have been unable to do piano at all. In addition, these stands and benches make it possible for middle schoolers to get the full piano experience instead of making do with something makeshift.
Additionally, with the money that was given, we purchased two guitar floor racks. With these, I was able to finally unbox an entire set of classroom guitars that have been sitting in storage due to no where to keep them. This has led to their usage in a new after school guitar club! They will also be used later in the year as part of our curriculum in 7th and 8th grade - many students have expressed interest and excitement in anticipation of this part of the year already.
Finally, we have been making a ton of use of our chromatic set of bells! These have been especially useful for our younger students, who love them, but also our students with disabilities, who are easily able to play these instruments. Many of these students have a tough time grasping certain instruments and these make it possible for that difficulty to be overcome by being pushable in addition to traditionally ringing them.
You've made a world of difference. I don't know how we would have gotten through this year without your generosity. Thank you so SO much!”
