  • Scholars in Desperate need for Filament for 3D Printer

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

We sincerely thank you for your generous donation of filament for our 3D projects. Your support has provided us with the essential materials needed to bring our creative ideas to life, allowing us to explore design, engineering, and problem-solving in exciting new ways. With your contribution, we've been able to experiment with 3D printing, turning our concepts into tangible creations and deepening our understanding of STEM principles. This opportunity has not only enhanced our technical skills but also inspired us to think innovatively and push the boundaries of what we can create. We were able to 3D print our school mascot, the Griffin for our administration and currently designing the Griffin keychains as part of graduation gifts for our Seniors of 2025.

Your generosity has made a lasting impact, empowering us to continue exploring the possibilities of 3D printing and hands-on learning. Access to these materials has fueled our curiosity and encouraged us to develop new projects that might not have been possible otherwise. Thanks to your support, we are gaining valuable experience that will shape our future in STEM fields, giving us the confidence to pursue careers in technology, engineering, and beyond. We truly appreciate your kindness and investment in our education—it means the world to us!”

  • Supply Us for STEM Projects!

    Funded Oct 31, 2024

Thank you for your generous donations!

Receiving the materials on our wishlist empowered the girls to unleash their creativity in various hands-on activities like making pins, crafting boondoggles, and exploring other innovative designs. With access to these resources, they were able to experiment freely, problem-solve, and bring their ideas to life, fostering a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their abilities. These activities not only provided a fun and engaging way to learn but also reinforced essential STEM skills such as design thinking, pattern recognition, and fine motor coordination. By working on these projects, the girls developed a deeper appreciation for engineering and creative problem-solving, showing them that STEM is not just about formulas and equations but also about imagination and self-expression.

Exposing girls to STEM at an early age is crucial in bridging the gender gap in science and technology fields. Many young girls shy away from STEM due to a lack of representation, limited access to resources, or societal stereotypes. Providing them with opportunities to engage in hands-on projects helps break these barriers by showing them that they belong in these fields just as much as anyone else. Encouraging creativity through STEM-related activities fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and perseverance—skills essential for future innovators. When girls see that they can build, create, and solve problems, they gain the confidence to pursue STEM careers, ensuring a more diverse and inclusive future in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”

  • Enhancing Literacy Skills With High Interest Books

    Funded Nov 4, 2024

Your generous donations provide our scholars with high-interest books they are asking for and have continuously been checking out since. High-interest books, such as poetry, fiction, and graphic novels, play a crucial role in students' educational and personal development. They captivate readers' attention, foster a love for learning, and provide diverse growth opportunities.

Poetry helps students explore and express emotions, enhancing emotional intelligence and creativity. Its rhythmic and figurative language also strengthens vocabulary and critical thinking skills. Fiction immerses students in imaginative worlds, encouraging empathy and understanding of diverse perspectives. It sharpens problem-solving skills by presenting complex challenges and introduces students to varied writing styles and vocabulary. Graphic novels improve literacy skills by combining words and images to support comprehension. For our struggling readers or English language learners, the visuals provide context clues that help them understand complex narratives or unfamiliar vocabulary. It also encourages reluctant readers to engage with books, as the format feels approachable and visually stimulating.

Overall, high-interest books engage students, making learning enjoyable and meaningful. They nurture curiosity, encourage independent exploration, and build essential skills such as reading comprehension, writing, and critical thinking. By incorporating these books into our library, students are better prepared for academic success and lifelong learning.”

  • LEGO Bricks and Makerbot Filament Needed for STEM/STEAM Projects

    Funded Feb 7, 2024

Our STEM/STEAM program this year kicked off with a bang. Unfortunately, we quickly discovered we did not estimate the number of students and supplies we need for them accurately. Our scholars wanted to expand their creative sides and built more with Legos and Mindstorm. In addition, we were able to get our mini 3D printer working only to discover we had no filament for it. It was discouraging especially for our seniors. But your generous donations gave us the ability to provide all this and more for them. Our students built flowers out of Legos and found it both fun and challenging.

We also started designing our school mascot on Thingiverse to be printed off the 3D printer. Our scholars are learning design, online programming skills, and mathematics through this. The designs are saved and waiting patiently to be printed after state testing. We can't wait to show you this and more when we gain momentum with 3D printing. Thank you again for supporting our scholars and community.”

    Ms. Liu

  • A STEM Project a Day Enriches a Scholar's Mind

    Funded Dec 25, 2023

After the launch of our STEM/STEAM program, I discover our students could benefit from building and creating with Legos. In many peoples' mind, this is a simple child's toy but the joy and creativity it has created and supported for my students is amazing. Through the floral bouquet collection and the original sets of Legos, my students learned to follow step by step instructions along with working with a group to create an overall larger Lego project. In addition, we are using the Legos to learn about coding and incorporating Lego Mindstorm in our STEM/STEAM program. This is a new world for me. Together my students and I are learning to use the programming together where some of them feel so confident now that they are teaching other students how to code with Lego Mindstorm and Legos. They were able to learn this new skill due to your generosity.

We also used the materials from your donation to create bouncy balls and slime. This was an exciting experiment for our high school students. This is something usually geared for younger students and to be able to make something messy again brought so many smiles to their faces. Thank you for your donations, we greatly appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Liu

  • STEM Scholars Appreciate Any Support

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

The scholars at World of Inquiry are incredibly grateful for your thoughtful and generous donations. Because of you, we were able to launch our STEM/STEAM program with a bang. Every Friday, we do a rotation of projects that is either more STEM component heavy or STEAM component heavy.

Our first project was making coding bracelets or keychains. Using two different color beads, students created a short message or their names with it. We followed a coding pattern when doing this. The only challenge we had was keeping the beading strings tied tight enough so that the beads didn't fall off. This is going to lead to our online coding program. Since then, we meet every week, students sign up on google classroom but many of them will end up coming by to check in with me what we are doing for this week. It has given our scholars a chance to bond and do something enriching during school hours but outside the classroom. Other projects include making trinket trays, gameboards, and jewelry holders using air dry clay, straws and connectors building competition, rainbow paper creations, and we are slowly transitioning into 3D printing in the coming weeks.”
