Funded Sep 3, 2024Receiving an iPad with an Apple Pencil has completely changed how I teach and interact with my students. It allows me to move around the room while still leading lessons, keeping all eyes on me and everyone engaged. I can annotate directly on lesson materials, solve math problems step-by-step, and highlight important points in real time, all without being stuck at the Promethean board with my back turned. This flexibility not only keeps students focused but also makes learning feel more interactive and exciting.
The iPad has also enhanced how I teach math. I use it to demonstrate strategies visually, such as breaking down problems using number lines, area models, or step-by-step solutions. What's even better is that students can come up and explain their thinking directly on the iPad for the whole class to see. This encourages participation and builds confidence, as they feel proud to share their ideas with their peers. It's also a great tool for giving instant feedback and helping students correct mistakes in the moment, which has really helped improve their understanding.
Additionally, the iPad helps with classroom management. By walking around with it, I can keep an eye on everyone while continuing the lesson, ensuring that students stay on task. The portability and versatility of the iPad have made my teaching more dynamic and my classroom more connected. Whether I'm annotating lessons, demonstrating strategies, or letting students share their thinking, it has become an essential tool that supports both teaching and learning in meaningful ways.”
