New School Year Supplies!
Funded Aug 1, 2024I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your support and kind messages. I didn't think I would fall in love with teaching after being in a completely different career prior. Still, I'm glad that I took a chance on that teacher's assistant position years ago which opened up the doors to the position of an educator. This career is not easy, and there have been times when my mental health was affected, but I knew I didn't want to give it up because it made me happy to see my students grow and learn.
Many of the supplies and materials I've included in this project will allow my students different ways to interact with their classroom. I want to incorporate more writing and one way of doing that is to make it fun. For example, the lap desks I requested will no doubt be a hit with my students, as they are now given a new flexible way of working collaboratively and independently. The social-emotional materials will also help my students understand and control their emotions better because if there is one thing I learned is that 1st graders are small, but have big emotions.
I am excited to put together my classroom with these materials and I can't wait to show the impact!”

Funded Sep 11, 20231st grade is a magical year where students are trickling into reading full-fledged books and one of my goals is to give students a positive experience with literacy. Through my research, I learned that in order for students to become strong readers they must first gain an appreciation and respect of books and reading. While my rug was not delivered, Donor Choose was gracious enough to give me funds to continue to create a reading nook for my students.
My students love going to the library and sitting down on their special seats with a friend to read and practice their reading together. They love the phonics games and are excited for their ELA/ELD times because they love their centers. This excitement of reading and literacy wouldn't have been possible without your support. I spent a long time trying to find the perfect tools to get my students excited about reading and its magic.
I will continue to grow as an educator and continue to create projects that will help all of my students become strong learners. I appreciate your support.”
