• Math STEM Bins for a Great Morning Start!

  These STEM bins have been such a great addition to our classroom each morning. I recently added specific challenges for the different types of manipulatives. The kids come in so excited each morning and just begin to use their imaginations and build with their friends. I encourage them to pick different boxes each day to extend their creativity. They are all always so proud of what they make and eager to share with their friends and me as their teacher. I ordered a large variety and there is always something for everybody. It has made the morning stress-free and fun while they are learning at the same time.”

• Make Math Fun! Put It in Their Hands!

  First graders learning math requires so much practice and manipulatives. I find that getting things in their hands and them being able to see addition and subtraction in a tactile way makes it so much easier for some kids. They think they are very special to have these little red boxes with all their manipulatives in them.

  For some kids math does not come easy. Any way that we can make it easier for them is a win. I love to see the class come alive and talking about math. It is one of the most important things that they learn in their lives and if we can make it easier for them they will love the subject.”

• We Want to Learn to Read!

  I can not thank you enough for getting my sweet first graders the things they needed to learn how to read. One of the things they look forward to each day is using their white boards and trying to write the words that they hear. We started a new program with IReady and one of the necessary skills is learning how to dictate words and sentences, which is pretty hard for most first graders. We practice A LOT!!! The best way to learn is to practice, practice, practice. They think we are playing a game and I am learning so much about the students capabilities.

  I also use everything in smaller groups as well to give some students more one on one support. I have found that they love playing and learning at once.”

• Reading Is So Much Fun!

  You probably know how important reading is in first grade. These books work for our classroom twofold. I love reading aloud to them every single day. We have so much fun digging into all the different characters, setting, and plots. We also love giggling to the funny plots and stories that all of these books offer. These kids are emergent readers and take these books and want to read them for themselves. We have such a large assortment of books now that we can accommodate all reading levels. The students look forward to reading time each day. Some of the students choose to read instead of doing games in the morning. The assortment of books in our classroom library now makes me so happy. The kids love to not only listen to stories come alive but then read them.

  We also purchased some morning manipulatives with the funds. It is the favorite part of the day for most of the students because they love using their imaginations and creating things with the different things purchased.
