  • Clean & Cared For

    Funded Jan 6, 2024

Thank you immensely for helping me give my students sanitary solutions and a clean classroom. Your contribution is working to ensure that my middle schoolers learn in a sanitary space while feeling clean and comfortable. This project being funded has allowed me to have an assortment of cleaning supplies at the ready as we combat this cold, flu, covid, and stomach bug season. The students are taking an active role in wiping down their desks and materials. The sprays have allowed me to coat the classroom each morning, and each afternoon, in disinfectant. This has given me the peace of mind that I am doing my best to keep myself healthy, and my students healthy.

We have actually just been announced as the monthly attendance champion for our grade level - meaning my homeroom had the highest average percentage of students present each day! I am hoping to continue this great streak of students being present by keeping us all healthy!

My students will be greatly benefitting from your help in feeling clean and cared for at school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pratt

  • Flexible Seating in Fifth

    Funded Oct 24, 2023

Thank you so much for taking your time and investing your energy and heart into supporting "Flexible Seating in Fifth". The supplies which you helped have been embraced and adored in my classroom. The comfortable seating you contributed to have permitted my students to feel cozy while exploring content.

Having the opportunity to move about our classroom and learn in different settings has increased engagement, excitement, and comfortability amongst my 5th graders. The beautiful and large classroom rug has allowed our class to meet together in a shared space for instruction. It has also allowed the students whose assigned seats are further back, to comfortably come forwards and sit at the rug during media instruction for a better view. Students have gotten comfortable writing at the rug, curled up with a good book upon it, and met with groups using clipboards. The large classroom rug has furthered collaboration and our sense of community.

The smaller cozy corner rug has been a great addition as well. It has added to the comfort and helped students gravitate towards silent sustained reading time.”

  • Let's Begin a Writing Revolution!

    Funded Oct 18, 2023

Thank you so much for taking your time and investing your energy and heart into supporting "Let's Begin a Writing Revolution". The materials which you helped to fund have been embraced and adored in my classroom. These supplies have already inspired many writers.

We utilize the sticky note chart paper and lined paper weekly! The students have been able to circulate the room and write in a variety of settings. They have been able to add their words onto colorful charts, class compiled lists, and anchor charts which we look back to regularly. Knowing that their writing will be showcased has helped motivate them!

The Lakeshore Dry and Print Write and Wipe boards have allowed for writing and revising to take place in a low stakes manner. My students have practiced forming dialogue, punctuating sentences, answering multiple choice questions, and adding sensory details to match a scene all upon these white boards. The lines and spacing they have printed upon them have also helped encourage neatness!

Funding these writing tools has certainly helped to spark a WRITING REVOLUTION in my 5th grade ELA and Social Studies Classroom!

Your donation truly makes a difference on a daily basis.”

  • Diverse Texts in a Supportive Space

    Funded Jul 22, 2023

Thank you so much for taking your time and investing your energy and heart into supporting "Diverse Texts in a Supportive Space". The culturally responsive stories which you helped to fund have been embraced and adored in my classroom. The comfortable seating you contributed to has permitted my students to feel cozy while diving into the books.

We read "The Day You Begin" together in both of my 5th grade classes at the start of the school year. The 5th graders are new to the building and new to one another. They related to the worries felt by Angelina and connected to her summer spent at home caring for family. We began to follow Angelinas lead and share our stories. I paired students up with a classmate who they did not know much about, and had them share their stories to figure out what they had in common, in addition to what made them fabulously, uniquely, themselves. They then took these discoveries and shared them in groups of six. The larger groups were tasked with finding out what all six of them had in common, and then were able to build upon their connections by constructing an index card tower of their shared attributes. We truly utilized this text to build our community while acknowledging what bonds us and what makes us fabulously unique.

We are utilizing "Pies from Nowhere", "Where Are You From", and "Change Sings" as cross-disciplinary E.L.A and Social Studies texts. These stories help to explain culture, family, tradition, and the battles of our ancestors. The picture books tackle tougher topics in an accessible way. These texts have been a vital resource in my cross-disciplinary instruction, as they have helped me reach all of my learners; especially my multilingual learners. We are so grateful to have these diverse texts and have the comfortability to bring them to life.

Your donation truly makes a difference on a daily basis.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pratt
