Raspberry Pi Kits for Classroom Use
Funded Jul 18, 2023Greetings! I wanted to give you an update on how your generosity has impacted our classroom. Our students have been working hard in Computer Science since the beginning of the school in September. Since we are a special education school that serves students with moderate to severe disabilities, many students are familiarizing themselves with technology and computers for the first time, thanks in part to your generosity!
Our students need a lot of supports with managing and caring for delicate parts as well as handling and use a computer device. Right now in Computer Science we are working on how to create digital art through coding using P5.JS (I have included some student work samples of some projects that they have created in the slideshow!). Since our students are visual and hands-on learners, new experiences through hands-on experimentation and activities enhance their classroom and learning experience.
I have students who struggle with engagement in their core academic classes who are really excited to participate in computers and technology. They communicated that this is something that they have never been exposed to before. I have shown them the kits you have so generously supported through your donations and they are very excited to get working on them. They love the idea of building a computer from scratch and having the payoff of seeing and understanding how the different parts contribute to a computer's function. Thank you so much for your generosity on this project! Your donations have really helped make a change in these young people's lives.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Morell
