I am a kindergarten/first grade teacher in an inner city public school. I am a teacher in the bilingual program. I teach English to first graders in the morning and English to kindergarten students in the afternoon. Ninety percent of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Most of our students are from low income families. My school's philosophy is simple, "every child, regardless of race or socioeconomic status can succeed with the right teachers and community advocates. My school has been instrumental in raising the academic standards and test scores for our low income students.
