Calm Down Corner
Funded Sep 22, 2024The new resources you provided have already begun to support my students in meaningful ways. We've been incorporating the yoga mats, blocks, and bolsters into our mindfulness and wellness sessions, allowing students to use them as needed to manage stress and stay focused. One particular moment that stands out is when a few students participated in a guided breathing exercise using the mats and blocks. They found the experience calming and reported feeling more relaxed afterward. For those who haven't yet used the materials, they have the option to participate at their own pace, creating a comfortable and flexible environment for everyone.
When the materials first arrived, the students were curious and excited. A few expressed interest in trying the yoga poses, while others were eager to explore the mindfulness book, especially the sections on managing stress. For some, just having the option to use the mats or practice breathing with the bear has made a difference. We've been incorporating short mindfulness breaks during the day, and students who are more inclined to try these techniques have shared how they feel more focused and calm afterward.
Looking ahead, we're continuing to work on mindfulness as part of our current project. Students who are interested in using the yoga mats and blocks will continue to do so during specific lessons or breaks, while others will engage with the mindfulness book and breathing exercises in ways that feel most helpful to them. As we explore these tools, students will reflect on how these practices are influencing their emotional well-being and academic performance. Thanks to your support, students now have access to resources that can help them develop important skills for managing stress and staying present in their learning.”

Funded Nov 29, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation towards this project. The ability to have students work at vertical nonpermanent work surfaces has dramatically improved the level of thinking that happens in the classroom. Students are engaged, excited to learn, and most importantly, persevering as they solve problems in groups.
Students have even asked when we're going to be using the whiteboards again and noted that they learn better when they're standing up. Your donation has made such a significant improvement to my classroom community, and I cannot thank you enough.”

Funded Aug 27, 2023Thank you so much for your donation to help me keep my classroom clean! The ability to disinfect desks daily, dust surfaces, and provide tissues for my students has helped us all stay healthy as cold and flu season approaches.
In addition, I am able to hold students accountable to cleaning up their own messes. If a student draws on a desk, I hand them a wipe and they have to clean it up. If a student spills water, they get a roll of paper towels to clean up. It greatly contributes to the students' sense of belonging within our classroom community because everyone plays their part in keeping our learning environment comfortable.”

Building Perseverance in the Math Classroom: Tower of Hanoi Manipulatives
Funded Aug 22, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation towards this project! My students had a great time learning about arithmetic sequences through the use of these manipulatives.
The extend to which manipulatives in the high school math classroom increase engagement amongst students cannot be overstated. Each and every student in the classroom was engaged, participating, and excited to learn.
Students were able to solve complex puzzles, work effectively in groups, and describe a recursive pattern for the sequence that describes the Tower of Hanoi... All in the first week of school!”

Organization Station: Binders for High School Math
Funded Jun 15, 2023The ability to provide a binder for every single student in my class (>120 students total) has provided an incredible opportunity for students to learn vital organization skills, to utilize resources in front of them (notes in their binder) rather than wait to be helped, and to keep track of assignments they have completed and assignments they are missing.
Students were very excited to know that they would have a dedicated place to keep all of their materials together, and many expressed excitement about not having to purchase a binder for themselves.
I am looking forward to the future as we begin to learn more advanced math, because students will be able to go back to their notes from earlier in the year to support them.
Thank you so much for your contribution to this project!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Machabee
