  • Meaningful Mentor Texts

    I want to extend my most heartfelt thanks for your donation to our classroom library.

    Many of the books focus on helping students identify and understand emotions, both their own and those of others. By integrating SEL lessons with stories that capture students' imaginations, these books not only improve reading comprehension, but also nurture the skills students need to thrive socially and emotionally. Your support of these texts is truly helping to create a richer, more holistic learning experience for students!

    Read alouds are also a powerful way to enhance listening skills, as students are encouraged to actively listen, make predictions, and ask questions about the story. This helps build comprehension strategies such as identifying the main idea, making inferences, and understanding character motivations.”

  • Morning STEAM Bins

    Funded Jul 16, 2023

    I want to thank each of you for your contribution to this project! Students have truly been enjoying these resources.

    These STEAM bins have been used primarily for morning work. When students come in and finish unpacking their bags, they are engaging in hands-on, collaborative activities. Instead of coming in the building and going straight to a worksheet, they are building and creating with their peers. This allows for a much smoother and more enjoyable start to the day.

    Students were very excited when they first saw these materials, and that excitement has continued. Each day, I have children eager to show me what they have created. It has been fun for me to see what they come up with!

    In the future, we also plan on incorporating these resources into projects. I am also going to start adding seasonal challenges to the bins, pushing students to think even more outside of the box.
