"i Can't Hear It!!" Headphones for Classroom Technology

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our Kindergarteners. Our students use iPads to supplement their math and literacy instruction and also learn foundational coding and typing skills. It is important that they can hear the programs well -- the apps often provide audio instructions, and in the case of literacy the program will play words, phonemes, and letter sounds for students to hear. In a class of 24 students, this absolutely means headphones!

Our families come from a wide range of backgrounds with varying means to provide high-quality headphones. Last year I was unsettled when I looked around my classroom to see some students struggling to hear through ill-fitting headphones or none at all, because they had broken midway through the year. We did our best to address these needs, but this year is totally different. With the headphones you generously provided, all students are able to hear the prompts and build their phonics and reading comprehension skills. It makes an enormous difference in the focus and motivation for students.”
