School Supplies for a New School Year!
Funded May 24, 2024Thank you very much for the "Beginning of the school year" supplies! The students were very excited to come into a well stocked classroom and were excited to see all the new items we were going to use during the school year!
I'm reading the students a chapter book, and the other day I chose a descriptive paragraph that the students would visualize in their mind. After the students "saw" the picture in their mind, they drew what they saw! We used the new markers that were so generously donated!
In math we're learning how to use compasses, protractors, and rulers to create geometric art. The students will be using our new markers and paper to create a piece of geometric art! The students are excited to learn new skills, and produce art with nice materials!
Thank you very much for your generous donations!”

Base Ten Blocks
Funded Nov 26, 2023Thank you for donating to our project to receive 10s Base Ten Blocks! It completed our set as we had ones, and hundreds. They were a big hit with most of my kids too, since we didn't have to improvise with other blocks. The 10s Base Ten Blocks have led to really great understanding of place value, borrowing in subtraction, and regrouping in addition.
Having the 10s complete our Base Ten Blocks made it possible for the students to connect many complex mathematical concepts. Especially when it's time for the students to verbalize their thinking. Having physical manipulatives helps the students to see what is happening with their math, and then be able to accurately describe to their peers and myself how they have solved an equation.”

Funded Aug 3, 2023Thank you for the donation! With your support I was able to receive math manipulatives that are helping my students to understand math better. They have been using compasses to make art that helps them to understand geometry better.
I was also able to get base ten blocks that give the students hands on tools to help them to understand multiplication and division. They're able to see that multiplication is the combining of groups and that division is separating a large group into smaller equal groups.
Thanks again for your donation!

Funded May 30, 2023Thank you very much for the donations to the my classrooms project "Creativity and Critical Thinking through Art!"
I'm excited to announce that we're learning how to use the materials of the project so that we can create some mathematical art soon! We're going to be making Parabolic Art and they'll be using the paper and pens for their final piece. When I hand them the inking pens to practice with, the kids are excited to be using a tool that artists use rather than "kid" supplies. It makes them feel big!
When the students first saw me open the boxes the supplies came in, there was so much interest as I began pulling out construction paper, origami paper, and the inking pens. When I would unpack something I would tell them what we were going to do with it and the excitement was great to hear and feel in the classroom.
A next step for the classroom is to learn to make origami cranes. I used to live and teach in Japan and before they would go on field trips, testing, or upcoming holidays they would make 1000 cranes for luck. We're going to be learning to make cranes so that we can make a 1000 cranes for a good school year!
I'm excited for the supplies and the upcoming projects that we're going to be creating this school year. Thanks again for your donations.”
