Teaching Independence to Exceptional Students!
Funded Aug 15, 2024Thank you so much for contributing to our class project. The money kit is making our math lessons come to life! The students are making such great connections learning about money transactions from the curriculum I have been able to purchase on Teacher Pay Teachers website. The students are so excited and fully engaged in these lessons. We will be traveling to stores in our community to bring these lessons to life. It is great practice to build independent living skills. We are so grateful for your donation and for helping us learn life skills.”

Funded Jul 10, 2024Thank you so much for donating to our classroom project. The headphones have made a huge difference in the classroom. The headphones are used every day through out our school day. The students in my classroom LOVE books but some are not able to read and listening to audiobooks has made them so happy. Many of the curriculum programs we use during the day have an online component that will often read to the students to help keep them engaged. The headphones have helped to cut out all the noise from these programs to allow the students to work at their own pace and to really hear the material presented. Learning has increased tremendously. Helping to fund projects on Donors Choose make such a huge difference to my students and I'm so grateful for your help.”

Living Independently!
Funded Jun 1, 2023Thank you so much for contributing to this project for my class. As you know I have a self contained special needs class. My students are between the ages of 11-13. It is during these important years that we have the students start really thinking about their future. What are their interests? What do they want to learn more about? What jobs are they thinking about? What skills do they need to learn to be an independent adult?
With your very generous donation I was able to purchase curriculum that will help with all of these questions. This curriculum will help my students in school and help parents at home work with their student to increase their independence. We have started using it and my students especially enjoy learning about cooking. They all want to be able to cook at home. This week we started by going grocery shopping. The students followed a picture grocery list, found all the items with support and back at school went over the ingredients, measurements, directions, & cooking. They loved it! This is just one small step to independence.”
