Let My Students' Brains POP!

Thank you very much for providing me with these resources to help my students! It is thanks to you that I am able to provide my students with the best support possible to help them reach their maximum potential! My students love using both the BrainPOP subscription and the Lego BricQ.

For brainpop, my students really enjoy watching the movies. Before teaching almost any topic, I first look on BrainPOP to see if there is an associated video. Usually there is, and then I show the students the BrainPOP video to introduce the topic to them and give them the basic information. My students find BrainPOP to be very engaging and funny! Many students nowadays are used to watching movies and videos. By showing my students videos of content learning, they don't realize that they are actually learning something new. Instead, they just think they are watching a fun and engaging video.We also complete some quizzes and play the interactive games to help us form new connections to the topic. BrainPOP is an amazing resource and is truly helping my students very much!

The Lego BricQ is helping my students become more engaged and responsive to therapy. Many times, especially in middle school, students do not want to be taken out for speech therapy anymore. They are tired of always leaving the classroom and feel that there is no point in coming. One way I like to combat this feeling is by showing them that we can have fun in speech therapy too. I have used the Lego BricQ at the end of my lessons for my students to just relax, calm down, and do something they enjoy. This helps them have a positive association with therapy and are more receptive to being taken out and learning during therapy sessions.
