Funded Aug 2, 2023Thank you so very much for your generosity which allowed this project to be fulfilled. Regardless of the age, I believe play is a powerful and effective way for students to learn. Once I realized how engaged my students were with building and creating using tangible materials during indoor recess, I knew there had to be a way to connect this to reading and writing practices.
The magnetic tiles were just the thing to implement learning through play. They encourage play and creativity while also including practice with literacy and pre-literacy skills. Including the magnetic tiles during tutoring or tiered intervention groups was the perfect way to incorporate learning with play.
We used them to practice spelling, rhyming, to introduce and manipulate initial and ending sounds, and countless other activities. I'm always looking for beneficial, multi-sensory forms of learning for my students, and the use of magnetic tiles to connect, blend, and decode words has been one of the best ways yet.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wright
