Mindfulness + SEL+ Yoga Training for Student Self Regulation

First and foremost, I wanted to thank each of you for supporting my Donors Choose project, which has created a lasting impression on me.

My experience in the Breathe for Change program has been affirming my values and my desire to bring mindfulness, social emotional learning and yoga to all that I do—in the classroom, in my family, in my communities and beyond.. Participation in the program has broadened and fortified my understanding and importance of this work. It has given me accessible tools that I can bring directly into classrooms and beyond in community programs that I develop and lead.

The program was greater than a training. It is a mindset and approach that I carry with me. The teachings focused on inclusivity and offering students invitations as well as choices for varying levels of comfort. It offered alternative suggestions to support a student's well being. The program focused on ways that we can enhance our mind-body connection by focusing on the present moment; thereby cultivating positive feelings and more self acceptance—as well as acceptance of others. It helped highlight the value that each person brings into their environments.

Participating in the program allowed for forging connections with other educators and to exchange resources and ideas that could be used in the classroom. During these difficult times, I firmly believe we need to bring more awareness and offer accessible ways to enter into the learning. THis training has provided that.I look forward to utilizing the learnings and resources to enhance the lives of the students I teach and the communities I serve.
