Creating a Sensory-Friendly Classroom for All Students

With the sensory tools and flexible seating options you helped provide, my students are now thriving in a classroom designed to meet their unique needs. Weighted stuffies have become a calming tool for students who struggle with sensory overload, helping them feel grounded and focused during lessons.
The additional flexible seating options have been a game-changer for many of my students. They now have the freedom to choose seating that best supports their learning—whether they prefer to move gently on a wobble stool or find a cozy, comfortable spot to concentrate. These tools have transformed our classroom into an inclusive environment where every child can feel safe, calm, and ready to engage in their education.

Funded Mar 3, 2024I am thrilled to share with you the incredible impact your generous donations have had on our kindergarten classroom. The flexible seating chair and magnifying bug jars you provided have opened up a world of learning opportunities for my students.
Firstly, the flexible seating chair has transformed our classroom environment. It has become a favorite spot for many of the children during reading time and group activities. Not only does it promote better posture and comfort, but it also allows students to focus more on their tasks, leading to increased engagement and participation in lessons.
The magnifying bug jars have sparked a sense of wonder and curiosity among the students. They eagerly explore the outdoor environment, searching for insects to observe up close. This hands-on experience with nature has deepened their understanding of science concepts such as life cycles and habitats. It's heartwarming to see their faces light up with excitement as they discover new things through these jars.
When the students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. The flexible seating chair was immediately claimed by a few eager learners who couldn't wait to try it out. As for the bug jars, the excitement was palpable as they imagined all the tiny creatures they could observe with them. Their enthusiasm and curiosity continue to grow with each use of these resources.

Funded May 10, 2023I am in awe of the generosity that this project received. Your donation helped to secure over 200 new books for our all school library. Each title was carefully selected to ensure that students have access to books that reflect them and their experiences while at the same time offering up books that offer a vision into identities other than their own. The books your donations helped to secure help spread the message that difference isn't a deficit and our differences are what make us unique.
