Fresh Start Essentials: Gear Up for Success!
Funded Jul 22, 2024I want to extend a very late, but heartfelt thank you for your generous contribution to our classroom. Your support has truly made a difference, and I think you'll be excited to hear about all we've accomplished this year!
Throughout the year, we've explored a variety of topics like vocabulary, phrases, cognates, and Spanish-speaking countries. One of the highlights was our study of Panamanian molas. Students created intricate and colorful patterns of animals and nature, inspired by the authentic fabric designs. In October, we also dove into Día de los Muertos, making monarch butterflies—a meaningful symbol for the celebration—and even participated in a special event. While the initial reaction to receiving the supplies was subtle, the results of their projects have been remarkable. My students were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their work, and they were proud of what they accomplished. During Hispanic Heritage Month, students researched important Hispanic figures and created info-sheets that turned out fantastic!
I will to continue to give my students a creative outlet where they can brainstorm and express their ideas freely. The supplies you helped provide have given them the tools to do just that. These materials never go unnoticed, and I see firsthand how much they contribute to the students' success and confidence.
Thank you again to all the donors for helping bring these projects to life and for supporting our classroom. Your generosity has truly made an impact on their learning journey.”

Ms. D
Around the World in a School Year
Funded Sep 26, 2023Firstly, I apologize for the delayed expression of gratitude. Balancing cultural activities and preparation of end-of-semester exams made it challenging to prioritize properly.
Your donation of the flag stickers, stamp, and passports has had a great impact on our students' learning journey. With your assistance, we were able to create passports that not only facilitated the review of Spanish-speaking countries but also fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures. The students thoroughly enjoyed filling in their passports, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of each country's history, language, and traditions. I am very grateful for your generosity that has made a difference in their education.
I will be continuing this project next year for my incoming Spanish 1 students. I am confident that the passports will continue to be a valuable tool in their exploration of the Spanish-speaking world. Thank you again.”

Funded Aug 3, 2023My students are constantly going through supplies and I'm glad I'm able to supply that for them with help from you. Beginning of the school year always calls for tissues, minor mishaps for a first-aid kit, and pencils! Lots and lots of pencils. When I am prepared, the students are also prepared.
My students regularly use supplies for daily assignments, projects, and craft activities. Just recently, Day of the Dead occurred and I had all of my classes participating the creation of aspects/items of Day of the Dead. I'm really proud of what my students put together. Everything was made from students in the attached project photo.”

Funded Jul 29, 2023This project I was the most excited for my students. All classroom posters and banners have left the classroom an inviting, bright, and encouraging environment to enter. A majority of posters have encouraging texts and sayings. Since the beginning of the year, my students and I have focused on identifying cognates and my students are able to read and comprehend the posters because of them. It's rewarding to see my students to use their skills to read materials put up in the classroom.
With that being said, I have the posters up for a reason, and for them to use them! I encourage them to refer to them for help. Days of the months, Days of the week, colors, and so on. If they can continue to refer back to them, they will soon part with needing to.
With your support, I've created the foundation of my classroom environment and I am able to see its impact everyday.”

Funded Jul 28, 2023I wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first project but I was only hoping for some items that would be useful to my students in the classroom this year. These markers we have brought into the classroom has been an item that my students use weekly on their individual whiteboards and the large classroom whiteboard. We just completed completed a lesson over telling time in Spanish and my students were able to come to large whiteboard to write a specified time in Spanish.
As for the English-Spanish dictionaries, they are in the classroom to encourage my students to stay off the phone on google translate and look for words and or phrases they may need if I am not available or am helping another student. I have seen this best when we were working on school subjects and the class schedule in Spanish. As an assignment, my students had to recreate their school schedule in Spanish. During that lesson, a majority of school subjects were learned but for complex/uncommon classes, the dictionary was there for assistance.
I believe that my students don't realize that these items are a luxury and yet put use to them properly and when appropriate in addition to the lesson. And I am grateful to be able to give these to them with the help of our donors.”
