A Place for Everything and Everything in its Place!
Funded Dec 3, 2024I would like to express how incredibly grateful we are for your support in funding our chair pockets project! Since receiving the new pockets, I've noticed a significant improvement in student organization and focus during lessons. Prior to receiving our chair pockets, students were using the top of their desks and floor for their books and papers. Because of this, transitions from one subject to the next were chaotic and messy. Students couldn't find their worksheets and books were misplaced. It was a very overwhelming/overstimulating situation. After receiving the chair pockets, transitions became seamless! The best part? Time efficiency! We can now spend more time on learning!
One student mentioned that the chair pocket makes him feel "successful". This just proves how much of a positive impact these pockets have had on their learning experience. Thank you again for making this possible! We are forever grateful for your kindness!”

Funded Jun 23, 2023We just completed our first STEAM Project! It was a big hit! The objective of the project was to construct a sturdy bridge out of LEGOs that spanned the width of the river. Students worked in groups. Day 1 was all about building knowledge. Vocabulary words such as reinforce, span, piers, and beams were introduced and discussed. Day 2 was spent drawing and coloring the river on butcher paper that was taped to their table. Day 3 and 4 were spent brainstorming and building. On day 5, students put the finishing touches on their bridge and presented on day 6. We spent day 7 discussing what they learned, the challenges they came across during the construction phase, and how they were able to overcome those challenges. This project led to some really great conversations, team building, and problem solving.
It was such a wonderful feeling to see students fully engaged! While collaborating, I overheard students using words in their conversations from our vocabulary list (i.e. "We need to make sure we build support beams for our bridge!"). It made my day!
Our next STEAM project: Build a LEGO balloon car! This project will focus on math and science skills (scientific method, measurement and computation). Students will design and build a car, attach a balloon, blow up the balloon and let the LEGO car go. They will measure to see which car went the farthest! Needless to say, we can hardly wait for this project!
We cannot thank you enough for your generous donation. You made this project possible and a group of kids (also teacher) very happy!”
