Emerging Artists

Thank you for your generosity to the arts. The supplies I received have been used by both my 7th and 8th grade classes for their first projects of the year. When I showed my students the supplies that we received they were extremely eager to start painting.

My 7th grade students started the year out learning about Vincent Van Gogh. They are given a biography of the artist and we covered the following topics: Post-Impressionism, Two Point Perspective, Communication through Art, Movement and Acrylic Painting Techniques. Their first painting of the year was of sunflowers.

My 8th graders began with the artist Gustav Klimt. We covered Art Nouveau, Pattern in Art, Facial Proportions and Art Analysis. For their final project of the unit each student created their own "Tree of Life" using patterns as Klimt did.”
