The Magic of Reading "Romeo and Juliet"
Funded Nov 4, 2024Thank you for your kindness and dedication to the success and education of our students. Your donation has significantly impacted our reading of the Shakespearean classic, "Romeo and Juliet." Now that we have more copies of the play, the other 9th-grade teacher and I no longer have to worry about teaching it at the same time during the school year, nor do my students have to worry about reading from a text that has missing pages or pages falling out as they are trying to read. Furthermore, the students have recently begun to the magic of the language used by Shakespeare and have much less difficulty following along with our new side-by-side translation of the play.
We just began reading the play a few weeks ago, and my students are already having a blast reading the play. Once students begin reading this classic and begin feeling comfortable enough to read a part aloud in front of their peers, they really begin to love reading the play. Some students even become territorial over the reading parts of certain characters, protesting, "Why is someone else's name next to Benvolio's name on the board? I have been reading that part for several days, and everyone knows that that is my part!" Thank you for making this possible for my students. We all thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hauger
