Funded Mar 30, 2023This project has changed my book club groups in such a positive and fun way! When my students laid eyes on their new books, they jumped at the opportunity to read through them. We used the composition journals, highlighters, and crayons to engage with comprehension with these stories. After using the journals a few times together, my students were able to independently read and work on their book club questions with fidelity.
These books transformed our classroom. Not only did we use them to do book clubs but we used them for classroom read alouds. Read aloud became our favorite part of our day, when we could jump into a Roald Dahl novel and use our imaginations to pick the characters and scenes.
My higher leveled readers particularly enjoyed the stories and were always asking to take them home to read more. There is no better feeling to a Humanities teacher than when a student asks to take a book home to read more!”
With gratitude,
