Getting Comfortable Reading
Funded Nov 4, 2023With the bean bags and floor cushions you've provided through your kind donations, my students and I have transformed our classroom into a more dynamic and engaging space. The flexible seating arrangement has allowed for a more collaborative and comfortable learning environment, fostering creativity among the students.
One memorable moment was during our recent reading sessions. The students eagerly grabbed their favorite books and nestled into the cozy bean bags and floor cushions. The relaxed atmosphere not only made reading more enjoyable but also sparked
discussions among the students. The new resources have become an integral part of our daily routine, offering a comfortable and inviting space for learning and exploration.
As for the students' reactions upon first seeing the materials, their faces lit up with excitement! The joy and enthusiasm were palpable, and it was heartwarming to witness the immediate positive impact these additions had on their learning experience. Your support has not only provided physical comfort but has also contributed to a positive and uplifting atmosphere that enhances the overall educational journey for these students.
Looking ahead, the next steps for my students involve book club discussions. The flexible seating arrangement will encourage them to share their thoughts and participate in engaging discussions. Your continued support is invaluable in shaping these young minds and creating a positive and inspiring learning environment. Thank you once again for your generosity and belief in the power of education.”

Funded Mar 31, 2023I can not express how the funding for this project has positively impacted the students in my classroom. Including a diverse range of books representing different people and cultures has given students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of perspectives and experiences. These books have helped my students appreciate the richness of the world. By reading stories that are similar to their own backgrounds, as well as stories that are incredibly different from their own, their engagement for reading and their enthusiasm for learning have increased.
Providing students with stories including new characters and authors has shaped the way my students see the world. They have become more open-minded and curious about others paths in life. Students were given windows to explore traditions and experiences beyond their immediate surroundings. These books taught students that representations matters and when they see characters who look like them or come from similar background, they feel seen, validated, and empowered.”
