A Pollination Celebration!
Funded Jul 23, 2024The last part of the school year was a joyous time for working in our school garden using our new tools and planting seeds! We had a table at a community event where our customers were able to buy and plant seeds in compostable pots and take them home to plant in their own garden!
My STEAM Kids Action Team was so thrilled to be able to construct our new garden tool box with Mr. Chris, the head of our custodial staff. Thankfully, we are now able to store our garden hose, sprinkler, tools, gloves, and extra soil in our garden tool box, in close proximity to our school garden! We hope to construct our new raised beds in the spring time!
Thank you, so much, for all your support...it has made a world of difference...and today was our first day of our STEAM Kids Action Team 2024 - 2025! ...Stay tuned! :)”

Promoting Biodiversity on School Grounds
Funded Aug 16, 2023Thank you, so much, for your contribution to my project: "Promoting Biodiversity on School Grounds." When I decided to resuscitate my old Environmental Club garden with my STEAM Kids Action Team, my students could not have been more excited!
Once our seeds were delivered, students and staff members were buying the colorful packets like candy...and before too long...seedlings began sprouting throughout our community...it was a "Pollination Celebration"!
Unfortunately, most all of the seeds we reserved for our own garden, were eaten by our resident House Sparrows. Therefore, today, I plan on posting another project for this school year's STEAM Kids Action Team, called: "STEAM Kids Action Team: A Pollination Celebration!" Your continued support would be greatly appreciated!
I am happy to say that this year's project has already begun! Working with an engineer at Olle Gardens, we were able to piece together a design for metal raised garden beds in the shape of our school letters: P.S.95Q.
Now that we have the tools, we will need numerous bags of nutrient-rich soil, more seeds, seed starters, a wheel barrel, composter, tool box, and shed, etc. It is my mission to have every student in every class participate in gardening. I know with your support, our STEAM Kids Action Team will work diligently to build our garden beds and help make this possible.
Thank you, once again, for being a member of our team...and a very Happy Thanksgiving...to you, and yours!”

Ms. Bibro

Funded Apr 21, 2023My STEAM Kids Action TEAM was always rearing-to-go...but when the STEM kits arrived...they were on TURBO-charge!!!
It was both exciting and gratifying to watch these young scientists construct and operate, experiment and probe, measure and calculate...and through trial and error...expand their learning to new heights!
I can't thank you enough for all the joy and learning you have brought to my classroom, and look forward to your continued support, as this year's STEAM Kids Action TEAM springs into action!
We will continue to promote biodiversity on school grounds, within our community, and beyond. We have also been chosen to study the effects of climate change on the native plants of Jamaica Bay!
Thanks, so much, for being such an important part of our team!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bibro
