Picturing Writing Mentor Texts

Thank you for your generous donations! This year my class started a writing unit about the different times of day. We used the mentor texts we received to learn vocabulary about twilight, sunset, dawn, and more! The illustrations in these books also served as models from which they could base their watercolor paintings on. Then, we brainstormed vocabulary to help describe their paintings. They were so creative! "The moon is sleeping" - "In the cotton candy sky" - "Hiding behind the sleeping mountain". They had so much fun with language and are excited to write poems about their time of day paintings.”
