  • Reading Intervention Incentives

    Funded Dec 18, 2024

Thank you for your donation to my Reading Incentives project. Read Live is the program that we use in our Intervention period. It is a self-paced, individualized reading program that is tailored to each individual student's needs. Since the program is self-paced student my have motivation to keep reading when words/skills get more challenging.

Your generous donation have given my class a way of motivating them to keep reading. We use the sticker to reward students when they have completed a passage and passed the required assessments. Once the students sticker chart is filed they then place the whole page into their sticker album for safe keeping and so they can look back at their progress.”

  • Flexible Seating Options

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Wow! What a gift you have given my classes. The flexible seating options have made class time more enjoyable for my fourth graders because they have the option to pick a seat in the room where they feel the most comfortable to complete their assignments.

The flexible seating options allows the students to choice where to complete their independent work as well as options for where to sit during small group or flexible instruction time. I hope to continue to build options for the students as the years go by.”

  • Let Them Feel Loved

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you for your donations this my project "Let Them Feel Loved". Through this project we were able to bring soft, weighted, stuffed animals into our 4th grade classroom. We had several different animals that were picked and bought.

Once the weighted, stuffed animals arrived my students were able to name them and start caring for the animals. The weighted stuffed animals are used by students when they are feeling overwhelmed. We have learned to identify emotions and triggers that set students off emotionally. When feeling like they are losing control the students and sit with an animal, hold them or have the animal nearby to pet. They understand that the purpose is to calm themselves while at the same time quickly getting back to work!”

  • Back to School Classroom Essentials

    Funded Sep 15, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation to my project. When the amazon package arrive me class was so excited to see what was purchased for them. The unboxing of the weighted animals was filled with excitement and anticipation. The class oohed and awed.

Once we had revealed all of the weighted animals, we decided to select 2 that would be my homeroom's mascots and 2 that would be mascot's for my second class. The students then gave them names. We sent the 'mascots' around to each pair of students so they could become acquainted. The kids were so surprised at how heavy they were. We then spoke about the appropriate time to use them and how we should care and treat our new 'mascots'.

    Again thank you so much!”

  • Read Live Reading Incentives

    Funded Jan 18, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation to this project. Your donation has provided my students with incentives to continue to build their reading skills. Your donation is appreciated and most importantly needed in our inner-city public education classroom. My students and myself has grateful for the value that you place on education and your generous donation shows that. Please continue to support my classroom and classrooms like mine in the future. It because of donors like you that teacher can continue to impact the next generation or doers and leaders!”

  • Fabulously Fluent

    Funded Dec 15, 2023

Your generous donation to this project has supplied my Reading Intervention 4th grade class with incentives to complete their Read Live assignments. Motivating struggling readers is hard and these snacks and candies give them something tangible to work towards.

By providing my 4th grade students with an immediate reward once they complete the assignment or skill builds their motivation to read more. While reading to earn the candy or snack they are more importantly building reading skills. Motivation is key to learning!”

  • Reader Leaders

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Thank you for choosing to support this writing and leadership project. My students have been working through the writing process and engaging with our younger future writers here at Pittsburgh Langley PreK-8. It is so nice to see students bonding with each other as well as gaining valuable writing skills.

More importantly, it is so great to see my students enthralled in the writing process. Typically, students want to complete 1 draft and call it finished. They are now beginning to see the value in progressing through the entire writing process. Keeping the initial drafts and comparing them to the more recent ones has shown them that the process helps them become better writers.”

  • 3rd Grade Chess Masters

    Funded Sep 4, 2023

WOW! Thank you for your generous donations. The chess boards have arrived! My students have been able to engage in chess play on 2 occasions thus far. Students who know how to play independently are focus and thinking strategically. Students who are new to chess are learning and being encouraged by classmates. It is great to see quiet students as leaders and teachers.

In the coming months we will be hosting an in-class tournament. I think the tournament play will foster a stronger sense of community in the classroom. All students working and sharing a common goal!”

  • Self Management

    Funded Aug 1, 2023

Thank you for choosing to donate this my Self Management project. The first impact I noticed was in my students growing ability to manage and complete assignments when I set a countdown timer. It helped to keep them focused especially during group time. Often a lot of time would have been wasted as group members talked amongst themselves. Knowing that assignments/projects were due when the timer reached zero helped keep many groups on task.

The second item, the storage bins, keeps the classroom and student materials organized and in their place. I have used them in the classroom library as well as assigning a bin to each student for their class materials. Since we use tables and not desks the bins are a great place to house student materials.

Again, thank you for your generous donation.”
