Color Printing and Cleanliness: Building a Better Classroom
Funded Oct 19, 2024I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your incredible generosity in supporting our project, "Color Printing and Cleanliness: Building a Better Classroom." Your contribution has already begun to make a tangible difference in the learning environment and the educational experience of my diverse group of multilingual learners here at Waipahu High School. Many of you use technology daily, and I wanted to share how the color printer you helped us acquire is specifically enhancing our students' learning. The ability to print worksheets, posters, and presentations in color has been transformative. For my multilingual students, the visual distinctions provided by color-coding are invaluable in grasping complex concepts, especially in math and algebra. Abstract ideas become more concrete and accessible when key elements are highlighted visually. This helps bridge language barriers and allows them to engage more confidently with the material.
The new color printer has been a source of immense excitement for my students. They are thrilled to see their work and learning materials come to life with vibrant colors. Creating visually appealing presentations and projects has become more engaging, fostering greater enthusiasm for learning and a sense of pride in their work. I've noticed a significant increase in their participation during activities that involve these colorful materials. For instance, when working on algebraic equations, the ability to color-code variables and steps has made the process much clearer and less intimidating. It's wonderful to witness their increased confidence and understanding as they navigate these concepts with the aid of visual cues.
I've seen several students particularly thrive with this new technology. One student, in particular, who is relatively new to English, has shown a remarkable improvement in understanding mathematical concepts since we started using color-coded worksheets. The visual aids have provided a crucial bridge, allowing them to grasp the underlying principles more quickly than with traditional black and white materials. Another student, who often struggles with staying focused, is now more engaged during presentation creation, taking ownership of the visual aspects and demonstrating a newfound enthusiasm for the subject matter. Your support has not just provided us with a printer; it has unlocked new avenues for engagement and understanding, empowering my students in ways I had hoped for. Thank you again for your kindness and for investing in the success of my students.”

Funded Apr 4, 2024I am delighted to share the incredible impact your generous contributions have made through our "After School Games for Cognitive Engagement" project. The new resources have brought an exciting and transformative change to our after-school program. The students eagerly embraced the wobble chairs, finding them not only fun but also beneficial for staying focused during our interactive sessions. The Hasbro games, including Operation and Jenga, along with the LEGO sets, have become favorites, sparking enthusiasm and creativity as students build, strategize, and problem-solve together.
One particularly memorable moment was when we introduced the Gigilli Fidget Spinners and the Foxmind Match Madness Board Game. The students' faces lit up with excitement as they explored these new tools. The fidget spinners have been fantastic for providing quick brain breaks and helping students maintain their concentration. The Match Madness game has become a popular choice, promoting friendly competition while honing their visual recognition and problem-solving skills. The UNO Play with Pride Card Game has also been a hit, fostering inclusive play and teaching important social-emotional skills.
Your support has not only provided these wonderful materials but also created a sense of connection and joy in our learning community. The next steps for our students include integrating these games into our regular after-school activities, where they will continue to develop critical thinking and teamwork skills. We are also planning to use the file folders and magazine holders to organize student work and projects, ensuring a tidy and efficient learning environment. Your contributions have made a lasting difference, and we are profoundly grateful for your support in nurturing our students' growth and engagement.
Thank you for helping our students thrive both academically and emotionally during these challenging times.”

Multilingual Science Fair
Funded Jan 17, 2024I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your generosity has had on my multilingual students through our "Multilingual Science Fair" project. The arrival of the new resources has truly transformed our classroom environment and opened up a world of possibilities for my students.
The colorful folders have been instrumental in organizing their research and project materials, making it easier for them to track their progress and stay motivated. The fridge has been a game-changer for storing experimental materials, ensuring that their projects stay fresh and intact.
The reaction from my students when they first saw the materials was priceless. There were gasps of surprise, followed by cheers and clapping. Many of them had never had access to such high-quality supplies before, and they were eager to dive into their projects. The KN95 masks and Clorox wipes have provided an added layer of safety and cleanliness, allowing us to focus on learning without concerns about health risks.
Moving forward, these resources will continue to support our science fair preparations and beyond. The next step for my students is to finalize their experiments and presentations, utilizing the new tools to refine their work. This experience has not only boosted their confidence but has also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among my multilingual students. Your contributions have made a lasting difference, and we are immensely grateful for your support.
Thank you for believing in our students and empowering them to reach their full potential.”

Nutrition Supports
Funded Mar 5, 2023With the added snacks and nutrition supports, my students were immediately excited when they saw the resources. They were much more excited and able to attend after school tutoring knowing that they would have the necessary supports and snacks. Additionally, the fidget spinner, crafts, and art supplies allowed students to take a break from the stressors in their life, activate their inner child, and unleash their creativity. They enjoyed the supplies and were much more motivated to learn with them.
As for the future, we would love more cultural supports to provide students with a culturally relevant and inclusive environment. We would love to uplift each other, especially our ELL students, and make them feel more at home and comfortable through more traditional and cultural celebrations. This would not be possible without your generosity!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nguyen
