My students are from a small, working class community. Many are from low-income families or non-english speaking families. Our school has declining enrollment due to a changing neighborhood with many foreclosures and rentals. My students are motivated, hard workers who would appreciate having materials to expose them to the world outside their windows. Weekly Reader will expose them to so much more than they could ever hope to see. The audio books will help my non native speakers improve their fluency and reading skills.
