  • Empowering Young Readers Through Cultural Stories!

    Funded Apr 10, 2025

Thanks to your generous donation, my students now have the opportunity to explore the themes of resilience and cultural identity through "Inside Out and Back Again" by Thanhha Lai. This book has allowed them to connect deeply with the immigrant experience and reflect on the journey of adaptation. In our classroom, reading is more than just a lesson—it's a gateway to understanding others' experiences, and this book has opened up meaningful discussions on topics such as empathy, perseverance, and the importance of community.

The students have been particularly engaged with the story of Hà, a young girl who, like many of them, is navigating the challenges of change and belonging. The book has helped them develop critical thinking skills, especially in terms of analyzing characters' emotions, motivations, and growth throughout the story. Several students who have personal connections to the themes have shared their own experiences, bringing the text to life in a way that is both inspiring and enlightening. This project has not only expanded their reading comprehension but also nurtured a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, helping my students grow as empathetic and informed individuals.”

  • Beanbag Fillers for a Cozy Reading Corner!

    Funded Mar 22, 2025

I hope this message finds you well! I want to sincerely thank you for your generous support of my project, "Beanbag Fillers for a Cozy Reading Corner." Your contributions have made a remarkable impact on my students.

Since we received the beanbag fillers, our reading corner has become a favorite spot in the classroom. Students eagerly gather there for our "Reading Round-Up" sessions. One memorable moment was when they discovered a shared love for adventure novels, sparking lively discussions and excitement.

When they first saw the new beanbags, their reactions were priceless! They rushed over, eager to settle in with their books, creating a warm and collaborative atmosphere.

Looking ahead, we will be using this cozy space to enhance our current literacy unit, where students will create their own stories inspired by the books they enjoy. Your support has inspired a true love for reading among them.

Thank you once again for believing in our learning environment! I look forward to sharing more positive updates with you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Romero

  • Boho Room Transformation! (24-25)

    Funded May 7, 2024

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation towards my classroom project. Your support means the world to me and my students.

Thanks to your contributions, I will be able to create a fun and magical environment in my classroom where students can feel comfortable and excited to learn each day. I have purchased items to redecorate my fourth-grade classroom, aiming for a Boho classroom decor that will bring a sense of calm and inspiration to the space.

Your kindness will not only benefit my current students but also future ones who will enter my classroom. The posters, calm neutral borders for bulletin boards, and a calendar highlighting exciting holidays will create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for all.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and support. It is greatly appreciated.”

  • Help Us Have Fun With New P.E. Equipment!

    Funded May 11, 2024

Thank so much for sponsoring my class project. There are not enough words to express my gratitude. Thank you so much for helping to fund this project. Physical education is an essential part of a well-rounded education, fostering not only physical health but also promoting teamwork, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for fitness. I am dedicated to providing my students with the best possible education. Our current physical education equipment was outdated, inadequate, and in dire need of an upgrade.

With your donation, I was able to get up-to-date equipment, which it will enable me to create innovative and challenging workouts, helping students stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle. With better equipment, our physical education classes will be more engaging and enjoyable, encouraging greater participation and learning retention.”

  • STEM Gingerbread Houses!

    Funded Dec 14, 2023

I cannot adequately express my gratitude for your tremendous support. With your donations, I was able to give my students a fun holiday STEM project to build a gingerbread house. This time of year, building gingerbread houses is a popular school project, and my students were able to take something home for the holidays to share with their families. Thanks to your generous donation, I was able to acquire all of the supplies we required, including gingerbread house kits, gummies, icing, and a variety of other fascinating items that they could use for building their own gingerbread house!

Again thank you so much for your support to my project.”

  • A Set of Classroom Whiteboards!

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

I cannot adequately express my gratitude for your tremendous support. With your donations, I was able to provide my students individual whiteboards so they can show what they know while working individually and in groups.

Having a set of individual student whiteboards will allow my students to become more engaged in their work. They will use the whiteboards to demonstrate their knowledge, which I can use to adjust instruction.I plan to use the whiteboards in a variety of ways.

Students will use the whiteboards during vocabulary review, brainstorming activities like see/think/wonder, and during review for summative assessments.

Again thank you so much for your support to my project.”

Hello and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Carmen Romero-Ayala, and I teach a wonderful group of fourth graders at Kempton Street Literacy Academy in Spring Valley, California. I’m proud to teach in a Dual Language Immersion program where instruction is 50% in English and 50% in Spanish. Our school is a vibrant community serving students from preschool through 5th grade. The majority of our families are Latino and many face economic challenges, but they are full of determination and resilience. Despite the obstacles, our students come to school eager to learn, grow, and dream big. I’m passionate about creating a classroom where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired. Your support helps provide the resources and opportunities they need to succeed — both academically and beyond.
