  • Keeping Classrooms Clean

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

Thank you so much for your support! Students have loved being able to take ownership of their space, and are proactive about cleaning up their mess. They enjoy sweeping up after paper projects, and find it convenient to help them selves to wipes and paper towels if they make a mess with glue or spill a coffee.

In the midst of cold and flu season, comfortable tissues and access to hand sanitizer is a must. Students were so excited to see the roll of school paper towels replaced with tissues! Thank you for stocking us up for the year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carolyn McDonough

  • Empowering Our Classroom with Essential Supplies

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Thanks to your support, my students have access to the basic materials they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

Your contribution makes a difference, not just in providing supplies, but in showing our students that their education is valued and supported by a community that cares. Every resource you helped to provide will create an environment where my students feel empowered to explore, create, and succeed.”

    With gratitude,

  • Clean Sweep: Students Taking Action Against Litter

    Funded May 7, 2024

Thank you for your support! My students and I are so excited for these supplies to arrive, especially as the weather begins to warm up and they are spending more time outside.

It is thanks to your generosity that we will soon be able to make our school a cleaner and greener area.”

  • Empowering Language Learners Through Vocabulary Building

    Funded Oct 23, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous support. Thanks to you, students have been able to have a full 6 months of vocabulary building, and my classroom is stocked to begin this process as soon as possible next year.

All materials have been put to good use. Each student has their own case of cards, and have been able to find an organization system that works for them to store their completed and in progress cards. They love that the scissors are adult sized and not kid sized. They look forwards to starting new units now because they enjoy the process of cutting and gluing pictures onto their vocab cards, and they use them for a variety of in class activities.

Most importantly, it has been rewarding to see students practice using scientific words with each other, and building good study habits with their completed cards. This would not be possible without your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carolyn McDonough

  • An Inquiry-Based Approach: Anchoring Phenomenon

    Funded Aug 22, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are reacting well to this new class approach. Our first unit of the year used the anchoring phenomenon of Lynn Coxx swimming through the Arctic Ocean to focus on how our bodies use homeostasis and how different body systems work together to keep up alive.

Students were excited to draw on their own, and loved having their ideas represented on the class model. Having chart paper to take down and put back up as needed is great, as we could consistently refer back to the model, but could also move it out of the way. Post-it notes are a great way to get students to contribute as they're anonymous, and encourage all students to share their ideas without the stigma attached to speaking out loud and being "wrong."

Thank you so much for giving my students a new way of learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carolyn McDonough

  • Keep Students Charged!

    Funded Feb 24, 2023

Your support has meant so much! All of my students now have daily access to chargers. Work completion has increased, and the amount of time spent needed to print and make copies on my end has decreased. All tests are able to be done online because everyone is able to have a charged computer.

Students are also able to charge their devices without needs to move from their seat of choice. Students no longer need to move to plug in, nor do they need to ask someone else to move so they can access a plug.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carolyn McDonough

I teach 10th grade biology in Lowell, MA - one of the largest urban school districts in MA. There are over 50 languages spoken in my school community. My community struggles with many of the same issues all urban schools face: lack of supplies, lack of space, and poverty. The issues that we face may limit options we have, but they do not define my school or my students. Biology is an inherently hands on subject - I like to get my students working with each other and moving around the classroom and the lab as much as possible. My students deserve to have the same access to supplies and space that students have in other districts across the state. Thank you for taking the time to visit our classroom page and consider investing in a child's education.
