JOG Into Your Future Career
Funded Aug 2, 2023Your incredible generosity assisted Liberty Park Elementary's school counseling program in creating a huge career day fair. All LP kindergarten-fourth grade students had the opportunity to explore thirteen different careers through dramatic play while learning from adults within those same fields. Some of our careers made possible by the items donated included:
Paleontology: Students were able to hear from a Paleontologist from the Indianapolis Children's Museum while digging for dino fossils, measuring and categorizing the fossils, and piecing the fossils together.
Chef: Students were able to hear from a Chef from Chartwell's while fulfilling restaurant orders with play appliances and food.
Police Officer: A real life Indianapolis police officer brought his car to discuss what they do and how all of their equipment works while students tried to help solve a crime and dressed up in officer's gear.
Scientist: Students created their very own lava bottles and learned how different ingredients reacted to each other to create the experience.
Pilot: Students had the chance to fly an airplane via simulator video/built console/pilot costumes while being coached by a real life pilot.
It has become a yearly event here at Liberty Park and one in which we hope to continue to many years to come. Thank you again for the donations as it has truly impacted every student within LP.”

Funded Feb 8, 2023Your generous gifting of culturally diverse social emotional learning books have allowed me to create powerful individual session, small group session, and whole classroom lessons needed in order to assist students with learning positive life skills such as: Emotional regulation, empathy for peers, increased self-esteem, social skills, multicultural perspectives, conflict resolution, coping skills, and problem solving skills.
Through this diverse selection of books, students are given the chance to learn behavioral and social-emotional skills as they watch/listen to characters going through situations similar to those they experience. They are able to visualize themselves through these characters, which can be quite powerful for their learning experience.”
